Dibella was founded in 2013 by pioneers in sustainable garment production, one of them being the initiator of the Fairtrade Cotton program in India. Since 2019, Dibella has its own factory, Sustainably Crafted Clothing (SCC), located outside Bangalore. Dibella specializes in cotton garments, working directly with cotton farm cooperatives to source Organic and Fairtrade-certified cotton. They also offer other more sustainable fabrics such as European Flax Linen. Dibella has produced all our linen programs since the SS25 collection, and we have since expanded our range of products made with them.
The factory employs a large majority of women, 40% of whom are single mothers. Dibella's founder made a point of hiring locally, to allow these women to spend less time commuting and more time at home. SCC is a modern facility that has been audited against multiple social standards (SLCP, SMETA, BSCI). They have dedicated committees ensuring safe and fair working conditions. Employees are continuously trained to improve their skills and can benefit from multiple social advantages such as a medical clinic on-site for themselves and their families.
Dibella is a truly committed company that helps us fulfill our mission. To quote them "It's about time we stop doing marginally better, and calling it sustainable production".
"Dibella is an inspiring factory that not only crafts highly qualitative woven garments but also has high sustainability standards from the cotton and other fabrics used, to the working environment provided to the employees. Dibella is a great partner to have in our mission to change the fashion industry for the better."
